ALICE NASH IS THE OPTUS SOUND SCRIBE OF THE YEAR 2010!

After three awesome gigs in Ballina, Leeton and Bendigo with Aussie rockers Birds of Tokyo, The panel of judges has finally decided on the winner and Optus are proud to announce the inaugural Optus Sound Scribe program winner as ALICE NASH from Elanora, QLD!

Over the past few weeks, the Optus Sound Scribe expert panel has been judging the blog content, writing skills, creativity and overall journalistic achievements of all forty scribes with Alice Nash standing out from the rest to take this prestigious title. Alice has won a career opportunity of a lifetime with an internship at The Music Network and The Brag, an access all areas pass to cover the summer festival circuit as her first assignment and a trip to LA!

Optus would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all forty Sound Scribes on their dedication to the program over the last few months, giving a real insight into their local music scene and writing such engaging and inspiring blogs. It wasn’t an easy judging process with all forty scribes demonstrating great enthusiasm and journalistic promise.

The Optus Sound Scribe program was created to support youth in regional Australia, giving music fans aged 16 to 24 the opportunity to pursue a career in music journalism. The program has seen a tireless battle amongst the Scribes to compete for prizes including interview opportunities with national artists, the chance to win a free one-off gig with ARIA award winner Birds of Tokyo for their community and of course the ultimate prize of the internship at a music magazine with the first assignment of covering a summer music festival as well as a trip to LA.

The program has been successful in bringing together local communities and above anything else, has unearthed some incredibly talented young writers. There is now a new wave of music journalists in Australia.
